McClellan Park
McClellan Park is a West of the Trail subdivision near Sarasota Memorial Hospital and downtown Sarasota. In 1916, McClellan Park, two sisters designed the neighborhood with curving streets and sidewalks, running water and septic McClellan Park real estatetanks, all of which were modern innovations at the time. A yacht basin and swimming area were later added. They named the subdivision in honor of their father, a well-known physician in New York State, who had a great interest in health. The ladies touted the area's healthy environment in advertisements to draw in buyers. Ten years later the sisters sold out and traveled but later returned to open a tea room on the property. Today, the area is still one of the most historic and charming neighborhoods in Sarasota. You'll find many different styles of architecture here including bungalows, Mediterranean, old Florida and modern homes. A good portion of the homes have been updated or remodeled but still retain the interesting ambiance that characterizes McClellan Park. Residents of McClellan Park enjoy a convenient lifestyle with quick access to shopping, galleries, cultural venues, Sarasota's bayfront, the hospital, gourmet food markets and local neighborhood restaurants. Siesta Key Beach is a quick Drive from McClellan Park.
